Porsche made a big statement at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show with its Mission E Concept.

With over 600 hp and over 500 kilometres of range before needing a charge, the Mission E Concept is staring directly at Tesla. It doesn't have the same speed as the Tesla P90D (0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds, compared to 2.8 seconds in the Tesla), but it would beat its range. As good as the 500 km range is, the more mind-boggling news is that the Mission E can be 80% charged (around 400 kms) in around 15 minutes. 

The Porsche Mission E concept is a four-door sedan with a low centre of gravity setup that has a sweeping Porsche silhouette, lightweight design, suicide doors with no B-pillars, carbon-fibre wheels and a dynamic driving performance accustomed to all Porsches.

It will be powered by an 800-volt drive system that will feature two synchronous motors, similar to what is in the 919 Hybrid LMP1 racecar that makeup that 600 hp total, and will come in all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering. The lithium-ion battery runs the length of the body between the front and rear axles, allowing uniform weight distribution and balance while driving.

Inside, the Mission E is loaded with technology. Holographic instruments use parallax effect to always keep information in view of the driver. Additionally, it will have an eye-tracking and gesture system via camera to detect which instrument the driver is viewing and will bring it up in the menu without the use of hands.

Clearly, the Porsche Mission E Concept is still well beyond its years with futuristic technology unheard of in the automotive industry. However, it can still get the green light and take on Tesla by 2019 with most likely some more practical changes to come. That decision is expected by the end of this year.

Bentley plans on making a big entrance at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show with its Bentayga SUV. Not only will it be the most expensive in the market, but now the British-brand is claiming it will be the quickest with a new video titled: “Bentayga: the world's fastest SUV.”

The big reason it can achieve these heights is due to its 6.0-litre, twin-turbo 12-cylinder engine that's expected to produce 600 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. In this video, the Bentayga is seen testing all that power and performance on an oval track, showcasing how fast and powerful this SUV can be. The top speed of 301km/h is pictured in the video, which is 17 km/h quicker than its soon-to-be rival Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

Since 2012, we've heard about the Bentayga SUV when it was unveiled as the EXP 9 F concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Through Bentley's eyes, it was scene as the luxury hauler that will change how we see SUVs.

Slowly Bentley has craftily let out glimpses of the Bentayga with its interior looking like a modern marvel filled with plenty of controls and technology. It will feature a heads-up display, a rotary controller for 4X4 use, and a digital instrument cluster with navigation and a night-vision camera.

But why the name, Bentayga? It's derived from the word “Taiga” – the world's largest snow forest and “Roque Bentayga” – one of the more unique rock formations in the Canary Islands.

The Bentayga will be built at Bentley's factory in Crewe, England and is expected to go on sale next year. It won't come cheap, however, as according to Auto Express, the luxury SUV can be fetched for 180,000 Euros ($267,000 CDN.).

The Bentley Bentayga will be revealed to the world at 11:20am local time on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is always a hotbed for the unveiling of new vehicles. Infiniti is starting early this year by publishing its first official picture of the new Infiniti Q30 Premium Active Compact.

Two years after its initial introduction at this very same show, then known as the Q30 concept, Infiniti will come back to reveal and talk about its production version when the auto show begins on September 15.

The Q30 is the first-ever compact luxury hatch built by Infiniti. It has been designed largely for the European market that drools for compact goodness. It will roll out at the end of 2015 in Europe, and the plan is for it to hit other markets at some point in early 2016 that should include North America.

This compact hatch was born out of the relationship between Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan, the parent companies of Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti. The platform used for it is the same as that found in the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA of Mercedes. It will share the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as those Mercedes products, most likely with other options that would include a diesel in Europe.

The design, however, is total Infiniti with a double-arch grille and sleeked back skinny LED headlights. The sporty lines across the body show off this hatch's desire for coolness.

"Design is a key pillar of the Infiniti brand, and the new Q30 Active Compact perfectly embodies this approach," said Infiniti president Roland Krueger. "The Q30 Active Compact delivers the distinctive design, the driving dynamics and the individuality that our customers expect of an Infiniti vehicle. With our first ever entry in the compact car segment, we continue the product offensive and provide additional options for our discerning customers."

The Q30 is expected to take on the likes of the BMW 1-Series, Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf.

It's being built at Nissan's plant in Sunderland, UK, the same location where the all-new QX30, the slightly larger crossover version of the hatch will also be built.
