Subaru recalls 69,000 Legacys and Outbacks

WASHINGTON (AP) - Auto maker Subaru has issued a recall for over 69,590 of it's Legacy sedans and Outback crossovers because of a flaw in the vehicle's sunroof.

The recall is targeted for vehicles made between August 3rd 2010 and July 1st 2011.

There is a chance that the sunroof glass could loosen and come off while driving creating a hazard for other cars and trucks.

Owners will be notified by Subaru next month and repairs will be available at any Subaru dealership.

Volkswagen Recalls 30,000 Jettas in U.S.; Long Tailpipes Can Burn Legs

DETROIT, MI - Volkswagen in the United States is recalling more than 30,000 Jetta sedans from the 2011 and 2012 model years because the tailpipes can stick out too far and burn people.

Officials at Volkswagen Canada were not immediately available for comment and it was not clear if the recall also applies to Canadian models.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its website that stainless steel exhaust pipe tips installed at the point of importation can stick out farther than the factory-installed tailpipes.

If the tips are hot, people could be burned on the legs.

Documents on the website say Volkswagen received complaints of burns in July and began investigating.

Dealers will inspect the cars to see if the exhaust tips are too long and replace them free of charge if necessary.

Sweden's Saab Files for Bankruptcy Protection

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - Swedish car maker Saab is filing for bankruptcy protection in a self-managed reconstruction process.

Saab's owner Swedish Automobile, says the Trollhattan-based Saab and its subsidiaries, are filing for a "voluntary reorganization" at Vanersborg District Court on Wednesday.

It cites Saab's limited funds and says the move "is to secure short-term stability while simultaneously attracting additional funding."

The brand has been plagued by production stoppages and problems to pay its suppliers and 3,700 staff for months.

Creditors have threatened to put it into bankruptcy unless it pays up.

Netherlands-based Swedish Automobile brought Saab out of a liquidation process by buying it from General Motors Co. in 2010.
