Toyota Tacoma revealed ahead of Detroit

For the past few months, trucks have dominated the conversation ahead of this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Toyota is hoping to make a big splash with showing off the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, its mid-size pickup truck that will receive its first major redesign in more than a decade.

Toyota is not giving away any new specifications at all, so it looks like we will have to wait until press day to find out more on the new Tacoma. However, what it has done is provide a frontal shot of what it will look like. It's a nice tease, and at least it's better than looking at a picture of a headlight.

The 2016 Tacoma looks straight-forward and clean with not much fuss or change to its body structure. The front fascia has been bulked up and looks tough and aggressive as a truck should. The grille stands out the most as it's more bulky with a trapezoidal shape. The front bumper also receives some bulk with more sheetmetal bulging out and linking horizontally to its fog lights. In the rear, there's a new tailgate with Tacoma badging and new taillights.

Inside, is where we expect equal to more change in the Tacoma, but that is not something that Tacoma is willing to reveal ahead of the auto show.

The mid-size pickup market has boomed with new redesigns ever since General Motors made waves last year with the new GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado. This Tacoma pictured is a V6, but we don't know what type or whether there will be a four-cylinder offered.

Toyota will reveal its 2016 Tacoma on January 12th at 12:50 and we will provide the added information for you.
