The new 2016 Jaguar XE is the compact sports sedan that Jaguar lovers have been highly anticipating. More importantly, the XE fills a hole in Jaguar’s lineup. They currently have no car to compete with the BMW 3 series, Mercedes C-class, Audi A4, or the Cadillac ATS. Experts say that the XE will become the foundation for Jaguar’s sales once released.
The failure of the Jaguar X-type still lingers in the minds of many, but the Jaguar XE promises to eradicate all those memories from the minds of its faithful customers. We don’t however expect it to be cheaper than its competitors when it launches – with an estimated base price in Canada of $40,000. North America will receive just one body style, while Europe is expected to get a five door wagon as well.
The 2016 Jaguar XE is compact and sleek. It sits on an aluminum body that is the future for all Jaguar models. The body is lightweight and is made for both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations. It has a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine with four cylinders and Jaguar boasts that it will have as much power as the 240 horsepower Jaguar XF.
With competitors in mind, Jaguar gave the XE an integral-link suspension that is designed for better handling and response with still maintaining a comfortable ride. With the brand new suspension comes a brand new All Surface Control Program that works a lot like cruise control. It can regulate speed, as well as prevent the car from skidding in wet conditions.
September 8, 2014 will be the day the Jaguar XE gets officially released in London. Though the finishing touches to the car’s appearance have not been finalized, we do know that the 2016 Jaguar XE will look like a smaller version of the larger four-door sedan. But with Ian Callum giving input on the exterior design, it is sure to be stunning. As for the interior, you can expect traditional Jaguar with lots of leather but an overall lack of luxury features in order to keep prices low.
