Lexus has just revealed that the LF-NX concept will be featured for the first time at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The LF-NX is a compact crossover that was created to fill a hole in their lineup that lacks of a premium crossover.
The LF-NX stands out for its distinct design that features harshly sculpted styling setting an aggressive tone. The sharp cuts and curves throughout complement the signature spindle grille that’s part of Lexus’ “L-finesse” design. It’s finished with a new brushed metal silver colour giving it that futuristic appeal.
One of the coolest looks of the crossover is the styling in the rear. Lexus has created an axe-shaped cut that surrounds the taillights and separates it from the bumper. A view from the backside makes the taillights look like wings.
Most of the LF-NX crossover looks to be functional outside of the minuscule side mirrors that are clearly more for show. This makes us believe that even though it’s a concept vehicle for now, Lexus seems ready to roll this out next year. I do believe that when Lexus is ready to put the LF-NX into production they might tone down the some of the cuts and curves for people to look at it more seriously. Their competitors at BMW and Mercedes-Benz have tapped into this market with the X1 and GLA, and Lexus doesn’t want to be left out of the loop.
The LF-NX will be powered by what Lexus is calling a new variant of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system that will be set-up for SUV performance. We are also expected to see a new turbocharged four-cylinder option as well.
Lexus interior will have the upper and lower displays that they’ve been using for their current roster. The design doesn’t look too fussy with the technology and bright blue lights situated in the center entertainment console with a nice multi-colour soft-leather design throughout the rest of the cockpit.
Advancement in technology and interaction is always expected and the LF-NX is no different. Inside you will find touch-sensitive electrostatic switches and a new touch pad Remote Touch Interface design.
The reveal of the Lexus LF-NX will take place on September 10th at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Stay tuned for more information at that time.
