Volvo is trying their best to compete with the big boys of luxury. Recently, they revealed their all-new second-generation mid-size seven-seat SUV, the Volvo XC90 and now they wanted to show off its sportier R-Design trim.
The R-Design is all about looks and doesn't get any change to its engine or power numbers. It's all sports-tuned for a spirited and cool-looking ride. What you do get inside are special sport seats, a racing-looking leather steering wheel, paddle shifters and sports pedals. Additionally, it will receive the same all-new tablet-sized touchscreen featured in the regular XC90 version. However, it will have an R-Design theme to distinguish itself.
On the outside, the XC90 R-Design's grille gets a shinier metal grille that pops, as well as a lower front spoiler, exhaust tips and a choice of uniquely-designed wheel patterns.
As mentioned previously, power will stay the same and will come from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 316 horsepower. The top engine choice comes with the plug-in hybrid version which combines both the 2.0-litre with an electric motor that totals 400 hp and becomes the world's first seven-seater plug-in hybrid.
The Volvo XC90 and XC90 R-Design will be shown off at the Paris Motor Show next week and will be available to purchase in the fall with delivery coming in May of next year.
